What Is Sod? Sodding? Turf? Turfing?
Sodding, which is commonly known as grass or turf is basically ready-made grass that just rolls out like a roll of toilet paper. Sodding is grown on a sod farm, which if you can imagine looks like a grassy field, but this high quality grass is meant to be harvested and installed in secondary locations. Preparing and growing sod on farms in this way create a perfectly controlled environment, where thick, strong, and healthy sod is grown. There are quite a few sod farms in close proximity to Toronto and the GTA, which means the availability of sod is plentiful enough to fulfil any sodding need on the day of any landscaping job.
We provide free estimates for all sod installations, which we quote by the square foot. When you get a sod quote from Noble Care we stick to it unless the scope of the project changes. The larger the area is, the lower cost per square foot of sodding.
Factors Affecting Sod Installation Costs
- Project size – The larger the area to be sodded the lower will be the cost per square foot.
- Quality of existing soil – Depleted, clay soil requires additional new soil to be worked in with the sod. Our experts will take care of all the details to ensure that your new sod doesn’t wilt and die, but grows and thrives.
- Grading issues – uneven areas, or significant changes to the terrain, may affect the cost of installing a new plane of sod.
